Have you ever thought…”Why do I keep doing the same thing and ending up frustrated, disappointed, and disillusioned in my daily walk. I mean God did say I was a new creation. I don’t really feel like one or even act like one. If anyone really knew what I was like…”
Think back for a moment to the book of Deuteronomy. It begins with a flashback. As the children of Israel are about to enter the Promised Land, Moses wants to remind them how they got there. He says, “You were unwilling to go up…You rebelled against the Lord…You grumbled…You did not trust the Lord your God.” Deut.1:26-27, 32. Why do you suppose he was saying this to them? They were young children and some were not even born when these things happened. Is he blaming the children for the sins of the parents? Absolutely not! He is teaching the children to learn from their parents. What defeated them, you must overcome—in your time and in your life.
Could those repeated patterns in my life be anchored in my past? If so, what can I do? I am trying really hard. Those are good questions. We will look at some of the answers next week.
