About
TRANSFORMATION Welcome from the Author This program has been a labor of love, born from a deep desire to help people move from just knowing God’s Word to becoming transformed by it. Transformation is a difficult and painful process. As a butterfly does not emerge from a cocoon without a struggle, neither do we embrace the life of freedom offered to us in Galatians 5:1 without struggling. Second Corinthians 3:18 states that we are being transformed into the image of Christ. This transformation is not only inward but must be outwardly reflected in our character. It is my hope that this program will become a laboratory for life where the participants learn to live life well. God did not intend for us to live free from pain, but in the midst of trials, to live a life of integrity, excellence, dignity and truth. I asked myself why some people in the church live so poorly and with such mediocrity. It was my search for an answer to this question that led to Walking Worthy: A Journey to Freedom. It was written to give people an avenue to resolve their pain and difficulties, and to enjoy the life of freedom that…
What is WWJ?
Walking Worthy: A Journey to Freedom Each of us has a story to tell. Each story is different, but has a common thread throughout: we all bear the marks of some painful and often times unresolved wounds which prevent us from experiencing “the more abundant life” Christ promised. Course Description Walking Worthy is a 25-week journey which allows you to funnel your life hurts and disappointments through the grid of Biblical truth and practical application. If the abundant Christian life seems to be eluding you, Walking Worthy may be the place where the victory that Christ offers becomes a reality. Course Objectives At the end of the 25-week journey, participants should be able to understand and resolve the following: The power of destructive thought patterns and influence in one’s life. “For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” Rejection and how to resolve its painful residue. Shame and its toxic effect. Remove the protective mask of perfectionism. Rid self of resentment and bitterness. Learn how to extend and receive genuine forgiveness. Learn to practically implement the illusive but sacred command to “love one another as we also have been loved.” Course Details Time: Meetings are held once a week…

Elodia Flynn, L.C.S.W. has been a practicing therapist for the past 32 years.Education includes: Master of Social work from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Practicum at The Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, under the direction of Dr. Salvador Minuchin with focus on family therapy. Trained under Virginia Satir, with focus on family therapy. Trained in Transactional Analysis Particular focus in working with couples and individuals, and groups. While not certified, experience in working with victims of trauma. In my years of practice I have seen many believers who although they knew God’s word and desired to live according to it, seemed unable to implement the many verses they have memorized. How can we successfully run with endurance, unless we practically understand the encumbrances in our lives and the sin that so easily entangles us? (Hebrews 12:1) How do we personalize this race? How do we live Monday through Saturday when the Sunday sermon is only an echo of undelivered promises? How can we define what entangles us? Until we can define and resolve those entanglements, no amount of prayer or Bible memorization will bring about change. We must be willing to face the truth about ourselves. Salvation is much more…

Walking It Out…

Identity
Before the advent of sonograms, when a child was born the first words out of whoever was attending the birthing process were, “it’s a boy!” or “it’s a girl!” From the moment we enter the world, we are identified by our gender: male or female. By this time, the parents may have picked out a name, so we are identified by our name. Even at this early age, the child may be identified by looks: “cute,” “pretty,” “skinny,” “deformed,” “colicky,” etc. Identity is who we are, how we see ourselves, and how others see us. Our identities are both individual and collective. Each person’s identity includes gender, race, ethnicity, culture, class, age, sexuality and other facets. The multiple facets of our identity combine to create each of us as a unique being. We begin to form our sense of self during our first year of life within our family, cultural, and language communities. We have some God-given needs that are essential for us to develop a healthy sense of identity or who we are. Some of these are: To know that we belong somewhere To know that we are valuable To know that we are loved And to know that…
